They are producing indispensable tools for temples and shrines making use of 100 years of experience and technology.

“Consumables used in shrines and temples”
We do not use this word too much usually.
It represents items used in temples and shrines, Michida Mokuzai is the company to produce those items.
This company conducts everything of wood purchasing, lumbering, shaving and letter printing by themselves, and such companies are very rare in Hiroshima and Chugoku district.
Although tools vary in size and thickness depending on religion and shrines, this company can handle woodworks at own company, so it is possible to respond to every need.
In addition, they are also producing by custom order for extremely local items such as special candlesticks used for funeral in some areas of Okayama Prefecture and rain protection roof of tombstones used in Shikoku district.
Since our founding 100 years ago, they have made a wide range of woodworking products including clogs, building materials, bottom plates of closets.
Their skills and experience are utilized in this field where niche but diverse response is required.

High quality goods and also environmentally friendly items.

Mainly used logs for product are domestic fir tree which is very rare here in Japan.
Fir tree has white color and little grease so it is suitable for manufacturing items to fill and print letters on it.
The most difficult part of the manufacturing process is to trim this log.
They cut the tree in the direction of straight grain of woods, it’s takes time but little board deviation, and it takes 1 month to 1 month and a half to dry thoroughly to prevent ink bleeding.
Products that are carefully crafted are not only beautiful in appearance but also ease of writing and quality of printing are wonderful.
On the other hand, they also focus on utilization of “thinned timber” that occurs when working in forests.
They want to contribute to the regeneration of weakened domestic forests pushed by cheap imported materials, so they dare use thinned timber that is hard to process.
Products of thinning wood are adopted in many Nichiren temple and their activities are steadily spreading.
It is a company that strives to support not only Japanese traditional culture but also the forest environment of this country.
